Marcus J.
Marcus J. is a Seattle Based RnB/Soul/Jazz artist, composer and poet. Hailing all the way from Jackson, MS, he has a very soulful sound rooted in his Gospel/Quartet upbringing, where he got his start singing in various choirs. Marcus J. has mainly been a cover artist on the Seattle scene, but is finally branching out to share his songwriting and vocal arranging skills with his debut EP, Feels Like Home, with the singles “Make You Mine” and “28 Seasons” available on all streaming platforms!

Educator Bio
My name is Marcus and I was born in Jackson, Mississippi. I am a product of Jackson Public Schools, where I received an IB Diploma from Jim Hill World IB High School. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in History from Mississippi College in 2006, and my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2016. I have been working in education for 19 years in several capacities including classroom teacher, coordinator for Talented and Gifted Services, Interventionist, Regional Academic Coach, Assistant Principal and Principal. This year, I currently serve as the 5th and 6th Grade Assistant Principal and Humanities Lead at Rainier Prep Middle School in the greater Seattle Area.
